We believe that young people’s voices should be valued, influence our decision-making & help to drive change.
This is why we've teamed up with some inspirational young conservationists to be our #SBPNextGen.
Today @hielanhannah talks about riparian biodiversity & its benefits 1/3
"Native woodland offers a number of benefits to riparian ecosystems; structured riverbanks, shade in summer months & a source of nutrients via fallen leaves & deadwood, providing a resource to freshwater invertebrates & through the food chain to wild fish stocks, otters & birds."
"Dragonflies spend up to 95% of their life cycle in water so with 1/3 of UK dragonflies in decline (3 of which only breed in Scotland!) reducing riparian pollution, restoring straightened rivers to meanders &/or creating a pond could help these midge munching inverts!"
