Fundamentals of Software Architecture: An Engineering Approach by @markrichardssa and @neal4d - A great introduction to basic architectural concepts for every developer but especially every #techlead or #architect https://geni.us/wF3HH
I missed two books by @samnewman on Building Microservices ( https://geni.us/AGOAL ) and Monolith to Microservices ( https://geni.us/d01Y0 ). Given how common microservices are these days, important context for those using or on their way to using this approach
New to this list though (and replacing the 37 Things) book is @ghohpe's The Software Architect Elevator, a good look at the scope and breadth of a modern "enterprise" architect but good reading for all technical leaders to (YMMV depending on org size) https://geni.us/m47Esd9
Also new to the list is @RealGeneKim's The Unicorn Project , a business-novel style follow up to The Phoenix Project focused more on the software architecture and org structure that influences this: https://geni.us/qkklDJn
Worth a mention as I did add it to the list earlier this year is @TeamTopologies by @matthewpskelton and @manupaisable which explores different structures (and their trade-offs) when it comes to P&T team organisation https://geni.us/BwnnlEB
I also can't believe I didn't have "Become an Effective Software Engineering Manager" by @jstanier on the list as it only came out in Jun 2020. My description, "A practical book outlining the common activities and tools for engineering managers" 👏 https://geni.us/7avN8w
It's so nice to reflect on our industry to see how it is moving forward and how so many people are contributing to the wonderful body of knowledge that helps others level up 🎉☺️ PS. What other great software/architecture/or eng. management books came out in #2020 that I missed?
