The Prime Minister today said the laws were not brought in arbitrarily and that they were well thought-out and consultation was done. Nobody at the protests denies that. In fact, they have been asking why Adani has been building storage facilities in villages for a year, when...
...there was no sign of these farm laws. The farmers aren't saying consultation wasn't done. Of course it was done. They're saying it wasn't done with them. As for who it was done with, it's anybody's guess. Second, the whole thing about the laws being on the manifestos of...
...other political parties, is a red herring. Nobody is asking you to answer for the actions of other political parties. You are being asked to account for your actions. And if the farmers are on the roads screaming that they don't want these laws, are you arguing they should...
...accept these laws because other political parties proposed them? I think the point the Prime Minister's speech writers are missing is that the farmers don't give a flying rat's hoot about who made the laws. They have problems with the laws that they have already pointed out.
And the reason they are angry is because despite their saying no to them multiple times and peacefully, the government continues to tell them they don't know what they are talking about and that they are being misguided by opposition, terrorists, China, Congress, and Martians.
The first step towards answering any question has to be knowing what the question was. The way to know that is to listen to the ones asking the question. If that doesn't happen, there might still be an answer of some sort, but it won't make any sense and it won't solve anything.
