I often feel like SW aren't allowed to just be victims. You were assaulted before SW? SW is a symptom of your trauma and you need to quit. Assaulted in SW? It's your fault for being in SW, quit. Weird how no one applies that logic to other jobs.

Not to mention the pressure to stay quiet. People either relish in the drama of our stories, or gorify them to fuel their own narrative. We stay quiet to preserve our brands, for respectability politics, to avoid fetishization. It's so fucked

When we speak out about violence we are either silenced or paraded around by some scared-straight christian bullshit organization that actively makes our lives more dangerous. This is how stigma leads to violence, through silencing and sensationalism.
