I think we're dancing around a terrifying issue:

Q: Do our institutions believe that there a right to inform/misinform/disinform that is peculiar to certain institutions/voices but not others?

A: Clearly there is a monopoly right claimed to curate both truth & total nonsense. https://twitter.com/patrickc/status/1338681461746978817
First look at conspiracy theories. Those pushing the "Putin controls Trump as an Asset" conspiracy theory are not called conspiracy theorists. Those claiming that 2016 was hacked by foreign governments are not conspiracy theorists. Ok. Try asking if the CCP controls HunterBiden.
Who gets to say "Don't wear masks because masks don't work?" Well the Surgeon General. The W.H.O. Who gets to say "Run that marathon!" or "Go gather for Chinese new year celebrations and Protests". Democratic mayors and reprsentatives. Try to gather to pray and you are a monster.
Who gets to say "Buy a house with a NINJA loan because we banished volatility and everyone should be able to afford the home of their dreams!"? Only special people who work in banks, economics departments and in government. If the rest of us call BS, then we're chicken little.
Who gets to define whether saying "On July 30, 1976, Bruce Jenner won the Decatholon." is 'deadnaming' and should get you thrown off twitter? Only @TwitterSafety knows given that Caitlyn Jenner didn't exist yet. The rest of us await such decisions as if from a delphic oracle.
To sum up. I think what we're seeing is that a broad coalition of institutional media, universities, politicians & tech platforms working together have decided that it is their exclusive monopolistic right alone to inform, misinform and disinform us all for the good of socieity.
By all means feel free to disagree w/ that. But deep down, we both know it's true. The establishment institutions have taken the right to think for us all & to tell us what we can say to each other.

And if we put up with this abomination? Then maybe we deserve Chinese Communism.
