First of all ffs I want to throw a screaming tantrum here about the use of "on the spectrum".

For so many reasons but mainly you know and I know this is because they're scared of the word Autistic.

Second. Sia has the option to just apologize and sit down and shut up. https://twitter.com/IndieWire/status/1339503100416110592
I swear this is not that hard or unusual and frankly the only reason I'm even thinking about this Sia bullshit at all is she keeps making herself A Problem I Can't Forget.

I remember most of the other bullshit Autism Fantasy things that non-Autistics have done but I move on.
Like I would like to forget and move on from this Sia bullshit because my Autistic energy is needed elsewhere.

It's a fucking pandemic. We've got other shit to deal with. And I get why people are afraid to drop it.

Letting Sia control the narrative doesn't seem wise.
It's like we could just try to ignore her but then it's her narrative and only her narrative.

Even though it doesn't seem like shouting out every time she digs that hole deeper is getting us anywhere either.
I say "us" but I mean a sort of amorphous Autistic us and not necessarily me in a big way.

I prefer thinking about my puppy even when she's bitey.
I think that's what people don't get about this is it's not that easy to ignore it for Autistic folks because of all the follow-on problems.

Like any way you slice it Sia is making problems for us.
We know how this goes and we know where this comes from and it's like we know why but also why won't non-Autistics just listen when we say "stop this shit; you're hurting us"?

And we know why but also it's so unfair.
And on top of everything else it's kind of a thing of Autistic people that unfairness tends to get to us in a very visceral way.
And if I hear one more time "It's called ACTING" I'm finding a way to send my fist through a computer screen with a lot of force.
I mean to punch someone in the face on the other side. I dunno I'm just tired of it.
I know non-Autistic Disabled people hear this argument, too, so I know it's not about the way non-Autistics think Autisticness is Behaviors.

But it's not NOT that either.
Autisticness is about how we experience the world and that can't be acted. It's who we are, not what we do or show to others.
And we deserve to not have to keep fighting with non-Autistics to not be limited by what they expect of us or are willing to help us do or the stories they want to tell about us but won't help us tell about ourselves.
The way non-Autistics want to (and do) consume and exploit Autistic lives is obvious and ugly.
There's something really cruel and damaging in the way non-Autistics want stories about the way they imagine Autistic people but they don't actually want who we really are.

It's kind of the recurring theme of being Autistic in this world.
