Can’t think of an event similar to this. Cannot imagine what the behind-the-scenes phone calls between CD Projekt RED and Sony were like. This just doesn’t happen.
Sony did not want to offer refunds, because the game wasn’t “faulty.” It was still on the store. In order to allow refunds, the game then needed to be “faulty,” but a “faulty” game can’t continue to be sold. And so here we are.
Can a delisted game still get patches? How does Cyberpunk 2077 get back on the PlayStation Store?
Notable: there is no CD Projekt RED announcement to go alongside all of this. It’s not an announcement made alongside a partner. It feels like a fuck you.
Delisting is not removal from a PSN account, btw. If you own Cyberpunk, you can keep playing Cyberpunk. This isn't a P.T. situation.
According to my reporting, a patch was scheduled for Cyberpunk next week, including PlayStation. What happens? https://www.vice.com/en/article/7k945q/gamestop-memo-directs-customers-seeking-cyberpunk-2077-refund-to-cd-projekt
