Omg Omg. I am sitting here on my own and I just need to tell this story
I lost my dad at 13. That is not the story obvs. But we were NOT a video camera family. So there is so so little footage of him. He died before social media was really big and never would have had it away. He died before camera on phones were big either, and so
while there are plenty of incredible photos, there aren't many videos. About two years ago amazing boyfriend tracked an old TG4 doc which he was in and it was probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me (but that's a whole special story for another day)
When you google him, one or two articles come up about Aran or Inis Mor, but there are no photos of him in google images or anywhere other than ones me and my brother have shared
Every now and again I google him, I don't really know why as nothing ever really comes up and it hasnt changed over the last 13 years
Tonight I googled him and when I went to images there was one I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. which any bereaved person will know is like fairydust and magic
When I clicked into the photo it was a list of cast and crew from an old BBC show. He dabbled in acting when he was younger but it was mostly stage and it was so so long ago so i never expected footage or anything. So anyway I figure he's an extra on his old war show
So i opened dodgy link upon dodgy link which don't work until I finally think to check YouTube and of course it's there! And I try not to get my hopes up coz he might not even be spot-able. BUT
1 minute into the show and he walks in!!!!! and he has lines!!!! loads of lines!!! and I've never seen him on camera at that age (30s i think) and he's talking and looks a bit like me and i am just shaking and my heart is beating and I just can't believe it

that's literally it and it might not seem like much to someone who has their parents and got to take videos on a phone of your dad but i didnt and this means the entire world to me
To help ease my irrational fear of him being forgotten, I'll link it here. My dad Captain Sean Roantree playing Lt. Michael Brown (at the 1.20 mark) in BBCs Colditz
