I have an autistic child who’s currently expecting to go back to school on 5 Jan, and mentions this often as a kind of mantra that helps him orientate his way through the world. Now it seems that may not happen and there may be an extra week at home, who knows

It would have been nice to have a bit more notice if it is going to be wretched home school again - I know to expect last minute chaotic policy u-turns (or can resign self to them), he tends to expect things to make sense and be orderly...

Also, he is no more keen on home school than I am - it’s one of his least favourite things, right up there with toothbrushing, unfamiliar foods and itchy labels
