A thread. I’ve been waiting for this all to blow over but it is clear that’s not happening anytime soon, so I want to share what’s happening with you, my Twitter community, who I have valued getting to know over the last while.
I’ve worked for 12 years as a Jewish professional, work that is always challenging but always, always rewarding. Yet because I have been vocal about issues faced by Black Jews in our community on here and in my writing elsewhere, I’ve found myself with a giant target on my back.
In the last two days, people from Twitter have been contacting my work, trying to threaten my livelihood, accusing me of endangering the lives of other Jews. And even worse: they come on Twitter and *brag* that they’re doing it.
To be clear: I have nothing to do with the “doxxing” they are upset about.
I’ve seen this happen to people I know on this site, especially other Black Jews and the people who stand up for them. I am enraged and I am absolutely drained. This is what is being enabled by people who don’t call this behaviour out directly.
This is what the dog piling leads to. I am a human being. With feelings. Who gives so much of myself to build up the Jewish people. I will not let the bullies win but I shouldn’t have to be subjected to this. No one should.
