Yes. It's like... I can physically feel too many signals happening too intensely in my brain.

Have you ever gotten a static shock so strong that it caused an involuntary muscle spasm? It's like THAT feeling, but inside my head.

The only thing that helps me when I'm in it is to take a while to ESCAPE the source of overload & do some gentle #stims.

Whether you hafta lock yourself in the restroom, step outside, etc, there's no shame in needing a sensory reset.

Before it gets unbearable or after a reset, there's also no shame in asking for music to be turned down, etc. Although, some people will be jerks— like the DJ at my college's fair who ONLY turned the music down till we left the table we were currently talking to. 😒 #EndAbleism
It takes quite a bit of work to get over THIS feeling (I still experience it, sometimes... But, it's worth it when you can #TakeOffTheMask):

• Asking for stimuli to be reduced
• Headphones, hearing aids, sunglasses, comfy clothes, sensory breaks (similar to sensory resets but shorter & preemptive), etc. to dull input
#Stimming to process input

Oftentimes, standing up for your sensory needs will find you #neurodivergent friends. When we see each other in-person, my bestie & I usually end up wandering to a sensory safezone to infodump at each other. 🥰
