This time last year like the previous 35 years, I would be faking my way round the shops buying shit presents. If I bought them at all. Xmas songs, tinsel, choirs and the beauty of Edinburgh on my doorstep and I didn't give one fuck. Trudging my way through the fog
Xmas Day came. I'd politely smile my way through Bucks Fizz*, grin through the turkey and tell/hear shite jokes surrounding by joyful others

After munching my way through acres of chocolate, my attention would then turn to Boxing Day. Well that's a lie, it was on that for weeks

My phone would be buzzing "What do you doing Hogmanay mate?". I'd trot either "quiet one" or "going to xyz". Truth was there was no money to do anything other than sit in the house watching TV while most of the rest of the world got out their nut with drink and optimism
But not this year. No gambling, new job, new dog, feeling great and ready to attack whatever 2021 throws at me. I honestly feel a new person.

So to all here and especially those who have also walked away from the fire, I wish you the best Xmas and New Year. If we get back to normal, we're going to have a helluva party to celebrate our freedom and to toast those we've loved and lost.
