That said, the harshness of these cuts was blunted thanks the tireless work of grassroots advocates & nonprofits who organized opposition— s/o to @transitmatters @T4MASS @ABetterCity @CLF. This is exactly the type of energy we must mobilize again in the upcoming #MaLeg session...
For too long, advocates have been forced to play defense when it comes to protecting our (already broken) transit system.

For too long, MA residents have been forced to deal with the status quo...
But the status quo is failing us.

Our transit system at full operation already leaves behind places like #EverettMA & #ChelseaMA in my district, along w/ neighborhoods along the Fairmount Line + the #EnvironmentalJustice Corridor on the North Shore.

That is injustice.

Essential workers in #Allston & #Brighton will now have the all-important 57 bus come less often.

#CambMA residents, many of whom are healthcare workers, will find their Red Line service is less frequent + inevitably more crowded— in the midst of a public health crisis.

#mapoli
Next session, we must boldly reimagine our transit system—this will require:

✅NEW revenue dedicated to public transit
✅a funding stream specifically for transportation projects

I’m committed to building our system back to a higher standard.

No more status quo.
