my 10-step proven playbook for building viral community-curated content...[a thread]
step 1. determine an ideal person you'd like to reach with your content.
whether that's an aspiring investor or founder looking to raise money for their preseed or seed round - narrow it down!

step 2. ask them what they want to know.
for my most recent piece, the essential guide to syndicates for LPs & founders, I asked what people wanted to know here: https://twitter.com/paigefinnn/status/1335338695948337152?s=20

step 3. dig deeper.
set up calls with two or three people that asked either:
1. questions a beginner would ask (a beginner's mind is an extremely rare gold mine)
2. insightful, advanced questions (again, a gold mine)

step 4. build a survey.
using your initial list of questions and context from your calls, build a survey using typeform or google forms to send out to a larger list of people interested in answers

step 5. send out the survey.
select a wide variety of people who have engaged with your content & have shown interest in that particular thing.

step 6. gather & analyze survey responses.
pick out interesting threads & attribute answers to those specific people. they'll be more likely to share it if they're involved & linked. include graphs & charts of numerical analysis if possible

step 7. pick a medium: twitter thread / notion / medium / personal blog
twitter threads enable addtnl feedback, notion is collaborative, medium is very sharable, blog is evergreen in your digital home. I'd recommend a combination!

step 8. doodle a bit.
pictures and diagrams are shareable and help people understand new topics!

step 9. publish your piece.
when you publish, DM everyone involved with thank yous for their time & also link to the tweet where you announce the piece.

step 10. update your piece.
this last step is something people often forget, but updating a piece allows it to continue living ~rent free~ in people's heads.

for some examples of mine & other people who have used this strategy to build GREAT communities or pieces of content

this notion doc has been seen by over 300,000 people & is consistently sent out to aspiring investors. it started because of a single tweet: https://twitter.com/paigefinnn/status/1285653959886209027?s=20
Gaby Goldberg, my wonderful friend, wrote a piece like this on community stemming from this tweet: https://twitter.com/gaby_goldberg/status/1316804076940664834?s=20
recently, @meaganloyst used a similar strategy to build a community of over 2800+ genz vcs: https://twitter.com/meaganloyst/status/1319294258881400834?s=20
