Yesterday, I asked if @spdbooks was still soliciting free labor since their volunteer page was still up.
Today, it’s still up, but they’ve cut out the description and made Brent Cunningham the contact person.

They’re clearly paying attention to the public outcry, but have no interest in accountability or answering any demands from the community. Brent continues to be put in positions of power over exploited under/unpaid workers, even as the open letter calls for his resignation.
Speaking as the person who was directly exploited by Brent Cunningham, it is unsurprising, but still so painful, to see his unchecked power only increase at Small Press Distribution since the Medium article.
SPD’s elevation of Brent’s role goes against all of those who have stood in solidarity and have signed the open letter. This is how @spdbooks feels about the “underrepresented communities” that they claim to serve in their own mission statement.
They want us to disappear.
