every game is beatable the majority just aren’t worth playing
you could devote your life to developing the most optimal RPS strat ever, be the best to ever play, and it largely doesn’t matter. Bc it’s not a game worth playing.

unless someone is willing to pay you to play or play you for large sums of money.
fundamental mistake is lack of game selection. Jumping into a saturated space and competing in a game that is v far along the development curve.

games where the baseline knowledge/barrier to entry is v high yet the margins/ROI when at the pinnacle of said game are low.
poker and DFS have largely become this. I wouldn’t advise either as a career path based on the TL which the industries are at.

Earning a living and beating the games is possible but largely not worth the effort required to do so unless you’re already deeply vested.
The must plus-ev spots are in early adoption; beat the game before the masses know wtf is going on and then pivot to other unsolved opportunities or industry adjacent businesses.
A large number of the best players in the world in both dfs/poker no longer play bc the roi is higher elsewhere.

It’s not about beating that specific game; it’s about being sharp enough to realize when beating the game is no longer worth it.

i.e. game selection.
There’s a reason why the majority of high stakes sickos and pros in both industries have shifted focus to training sites, crypto, content creation, digital land/assets, trading cards etc.

They’re selecting a new game but selling the old dream.
Twitch streaming is a v good ex. The majority of successful streamers aren’t the best, most entertaining, etc. they were early adopters to the platform or a certain game and now monopolize the viewership bc of loyalty.
It’s next to impossible to build a following out of thin air on Twitch playing the same games as the large streamers.

Differentiation or early adoption of a new bud game, or content avenue is mandatory.
point being, it’s v hard to jump into a saturated space and compete, let alone crush and it’s often not worth trying to compete regardless of the game.

An individual’s skill level within a certain game isn’t as important as his skill level relative to opponent.
I’m the best I’ve ever been at poker but it matters far less now than if I were this good in 2008 bc so is everyone else.

Find the next game that can be beaten. A game with undefined rules and under developed strategy. The game where the margins and roi will be highest.
It’s easier said than done or everyone would do it.

But the crux is margins of return dissipate over time despite improvement in an individual’s skill.

skill relative to opponent >>> individual’s own skillset. That edge is found primarily in early adoption.
