A little thread on rightwing pro-annexation, pro-settlement @SussexFriends of Israel.
Here's a taste of what they do these days (which is basically just Twitter & Facebook) - posts full of crude attacks.
And yet amazingly they are a registered charity . . .

. @SussexFriends registered as a charity back in 2014 - here's what they laughably declare they do.
The reality is that they push an aggressive, avowedly Zionist pro-Israel, anti-Palestinian agenda . . .

There are 4 trustees listed for @SussexFriends.
Ronnie Bloom (bottom far right in photo) is a local businessman & father of Brighton & Hove Albion's chairman Tony Bloom.
Both donate to Brighton's Jewish community such as synagogue appeals . . .

Trustee Winston Picket (top-right) & his partner Fiona Sharpe (centre) are nominal vice-chairs of @SussexFriends (not that they have anything to do).
Here's Sharpe & other SFOI supporters aggressively haranguing a local Palestinian protester . . .

Trustee Daniel Matthews (in hoodie & sunglasses) helped set up @SussexFriends along with Cobbs.
He is an evangelical Christian whose only role seems to be heading up a little gang of other evangelicals who regularly harass the local PSC stall . . .

As a charity @SussexFriends income is not negligible, considering they do zero fundraising.
The nice round amounts appear to be one-off donations (presumably from trustee Ronnie Bloom).
What's interesting is the £15,749 they claim as "staff costs" . . .

And yet on the @ChtyCommission register this is what @SussexFriends say they spend their income on.
So who are the "staff" doing all the "educating" & "reconciliation"? . . .

The only possible person is the one desperately trying to keep @SussexFriends going as any sort of viable "organisation" (which these days is just a Twitter & Facebook account) - Simon Cobbs (far left), whose posts seem to have very little "reconciliation" about them . . .

Due to ill health it's unlikely Cobbs has any income from a job & so spends his time pushing his own strident rightwing, hardline Zionist stance under the banner of @SussexFriends, often attacking other Jewish individuals & groups (not quite in line with their charitable aims)

But maybe Cobbs was paid for something else?
In March 2018 he travelled to Israel, "representing" @SussexFriends to take part in 'DigiTell' - a 3 day meeting of pro-Israel propagandists organised by the Israeli govt's Ministry of Strategic Affairs.
He went again in 2019 . . .

Whatever the truth, the accumulative evidence shows that @SussexFriends of Israel do absolutely nothing to meet their declared aims as a registered charity - in fact we would say they are fraudulent.
It's high time the @ChtyCommission stripped them of their charitable status.
