Today is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, a day of mourning and reflection on those who have experienced loss because of their occupation in the sex trade. If you are a civilian/non-SW, I encourage you to donate to sex workers DIRECTLY. Orgs are helpful, but
giving money directly to folks in the sex trade cuts out the middle man.
Remember that you are able to express your sensuality because of sex workers. Remember that outing sex workers is violence. Remember that calling yourself a "h*e" when you mean "slut" harms the SW community
Remember that the whorearchy needs to be dismantled, but will remain in tact until Black liberation happens. Remember that Black trans/GNC sex workers are what spearheaded gay/trans liberation. Ask yourself "what can I do to ensure the sex workers in my life feel supported and
seen?" "What can I do to ensure their safety and well-being?"
And this goes without saying, but sex work is not an aesthetic. It is not something to be seen as a summer job or a novelty hobby. It is a community that deserves to be uplifted and given unconditional respect.
The way sex work is perceived by the public eye as a sideshow attraction has to be eradicated. The way we center whiteness and able-bodied abilities in the context of sexual desire needs to stop. The way sex worker death is trivialized and fetishizes HAS TO STOP.
