😱My Side Hustle Fails😱

The good the bad and the ugly.

// THREAD //
That's right.

I've been working on side hustles for longer than some of you known they were a thing.

At 12 I went around my neighborhood knocking on doors and got leaf raking and lawn mowing jobs to buy my first electric guitar. 🎸
1. Buying an overpriced real estate course.

Yes, I bought it.

I took the whole course.

So we got to the end of the course and couldn't take action because we had spent our downpayment money ON THE COURSE. 🤦‍♂️
2. Buying a mommy forum website.

Yes, I am married and have kids. No, I am not a mom.

My wife had a mom blog and I thought it would go nicely with it.

It still exists out there and still sucks.

It's a fail because I didn't know what I was doing.
3. Buying a prebuilt course website.

Again, no plan no follow-through, no $.

4. Bitcoin Mining

In 2018 went in with a partner to build a Bitcoin mining farm.

Was distracted by every new miner and spent TONS of time to make very little $$$.

This was also a down market.
We also were not allowed to stay in the space we were renting because someone bought the entire building to do a complete gut and remodel.

This wasn't a total fail. I still mine crypto on a small scale at my house.

But the larger project, FAIL.
5. http://Usertesting.com

Be careful with this one. It shows up on lots of side hustle lists.

Yes, I made money BUT it was a huge waste of time.

Over the course of 1 year I made around $200.
That translated to less than $10 dollars an hour.

Yes, they pay $10 for a 20 minutes testing session but their site was slow and I would only qualify for 1 in 20 tests each having a short survey before you could qualify to take the test.
To recap.

It would have been better to spend that time developing a high-income skill or buying an informed course that I could take action on than waste time and energy going alone.
