A thread. 1/ I still remember @iamamirofficial bursting onto the international stage in 2009, and the T20World Cup. WOW 🤩. He had the world at his feet. So much skill at such a young age, the whole cricketing world was starry-eyed at what lay ahead for him.
/ Unfortunately his life took a different path in 2010, and he was sadly banned from all cricket for 5 years. I still remember Michael Holding crying on the Sunday morning of the 4th day of the Lords test.
/ The years when he should have been perfecting his craft all over the world in different conditions against the best, and developing his body to withstand the pressures of a fast bowler...were lost to him.
/ He came back in 2016, and there were times when he showed the world what we had all missed out on for so many years. He had the ability to rise to the big occasions, none moreso than the Champions Trophy Final 2017.
/ I don’t think we’ll ever know exactly what happened with Amir behind the scenes in the past few years, who is to blame, should the blame be shared, who did and said what, etc. So I personally don’t see the point in speculating.
/ What’s done is done. Instead of focusing on what he didn’t do, maybe we should focus on what he did do for Pakistan. If we never see him in a green shirt for Pakistan again...thank you @iamamirofficial for all the memories 💚
