When the fascists coined the term Kulturbolschewismus, they were at least reacting to a powerful and emancipatory left. So what is it that scares the hell out of Truss and the other culture warriors in their war against 'wokerat' today? The Tories are politically untouchable> 1/
Well. One thing I'm always struck by when I read some Conservative literature, is the sense of paranoia that pervades them. Some Conservative sites are more paranoid than others, and verge on the fascist. For example, the New Culture Forum. 2/
The NCF are convinced the culture war is already lost. That the whole of society's institutions are already overrun by leftist ultras. The Conservative Home Newsletter, whilst less paranoid, does include a weekly list of quango trustee job ads, so convinced are they.... 3/
... that our public bodies have been overwhelmed by raving Leninists. My point is this, Conservatives feel they are losing this so called "culture war".
There is a sense of "loss" that pervades these discussions. My worry is that the fascists weaponised a similar sense of loss / betrayal post WW1, didn't they? And, unlike the 1920s/30s there really isn't a left to stand up to this atm.
