As we start to dose our front line workers, it’s becoming clear that the preparation regimen for the @pfizer #CovidVaccine is going to leave ppl behind. #Thread 🧵
Hospitals are quickly realizing the assembly line precision and manpower it is taking to carry out a mass vaccination of their staff.
As we get through these vaccinations, we will be moving on to vaccinating one of our most vulnerable populations, the elderly in long term care facilities (LTCF).
The OWS to our knowledge has only counted licensed LTCF and their populations. This will likely lead to major under dosing of this community. In states like Michigan, they run a tiered long care system. Only 1/3 of these facilities are licensed there.
Add to that the staffing levels across the nation at LTCF. Many run 1 licensed nurse that admins care providers. This is huge hurdle in dosing that will need to be addressed on a state level. Many will have to turn to their local health department to help facilitate dosing.
For some communities, the local health department will also not have the ability to properly dose these ppl.

All of this will lead to a longer time with #COVID19 and more deaths.
What can you do?
If you have a loved one in a LTCF, call them and see if they are licensed through your state. Ask them if they have been in contact with local authorities about vaccinating their residents.
You need to be these ppls health advocates in this time of need. They cannot help themselves and we cannot leave them behind.
