This feels like an absurd charge which is focused on enforcing the FA's rules, bureaucracy and need to be seen to be taking action, rather than focusing on actually tackling racism. Stripping comments of all context and wilfully ignoring the cultural background seems...unhelpful. https://twitter.com/ESPNFC/status/1339514139455201280
Multiple senior and respected journalists have gone on record to state that Cavani's language is the same as the words of Suarez towards Evra, in 2012. This is demonstrably untrue. "Negrito" and "negro" are not the same word - they don't have the same meaning. Context is crucial.
This could easily be solved: Cavani deleted and apologised for the post, recognises that - in a different culture - his words can be (mis)construed as insensitive. The FA can help promote cultural understanding and tolerance. Charging Cavani is absurd and counter-productive.
A three-match ban and fine for Cavani. A decision which is counter-productive to tackling racism.

The FA have demonstrated a lack of basic cultural and linguistic understanding. It is condescending, ignorant, context-less nonsense. And no, it's NOT what Suarez said.
The Argentine Academy of the Spanish language says that the decision to punish Edinson Cavani is in itself indicative of racism from the FA: https://www.aal.edu.ar/?q=node/732
The most galling aspect of this: Even if working on the basis that the FA ignore/contradict linguistics experts and believe this language was not acceptable. Cavani deletes and apologies for the misunderstanding immediately. This decision indicates that this was meaningless.
Simplified: adding 'ito' to a word in Spanish makes it friendly/endearing. Maybe there's a cultural conversation to be had about using it for this term. Maybe there isn't. That's a decision for the Spanish/South American populations. Not for the English FA to be abirter over.
Then again, the FA being an arbiter over any sort of decision would be humourous if it wasn't so utterly absurd.
