Who exactly is Liz Truss fighting? The left are many things but they can generally be relied on to care about economic inequality and to bang on about needing to factor it in to stuff?
Increasingly think this entire government is specifically focused on attacking the views of a small handful of liberal lawyers.
Extraordinary stuff, worth reading in full. Just absolutely fact-free. For example, decries the 1997 Blair government because it focused on "Blair's babes" but not on... education https://order-order.com/2020/12/17/read-in-full-liz-trusss-landmark-anti-woke-speech/
She attacks something called pink bus (?) feminism... what is that? Is that a reference to Harriet Harman in 2014?
Anyway apparently left wing feminists do not raise the issue of childcare. Yep. Absent from all feminist texts that. Famously feminists never talk about domestic and emotional labour.
Reasonable, obviously, to point out that there are deep geographic inequalities in the UK. But this government is supposedly also working to tackle those... as have the previous few successive governments.
The issue there is: what is this gov going to do to succeed where others have failed? Liz doesn't have to answer that because she implies no other governments have even tried, instead they were just listening to the loony left identitarians.
Anyway then she ends by announcing a bunch of very standard stuff on gender-based violence, where the government will presumably be working closely with partners in the crypto-marxist international NGO blob
Oh also it contains a reference to Foucault for literally no reason at all. The stuff she's attacking doesn't even sound especially foucauldian.
Tbf parts of this speech might hold up OK as a critique of David Cameron's 2005 conservative party leadership campaign.
