Luke is 100% correct in pinpointing the assessment that classes have lost identity, and that that might be a preferable design. He also correctly assesses that some classes have multiple main fantasies which cannot easily collapse into one.
Literally zero change to the actual design is discussed here - but the intention is interesting and good for the game. At this point, with very rare exceptions, it doesn't matter what you bring to a fight because in general everyone can do the same thing & almost equally well.
But everyone saying this will be terrible would make a really bad game designer in my opinion. This is the kind of thing that is entirely guesswork until it's defined, prototyped, and tested. Until then, there's nothing to say beyond that the issues identified are indeed real.
