There's a curious phenomenon going on across France right now in anticipation of Brexit in 2 weeks. It's all those Brits who have been keeping below the radar (usually to avoid tax) and not declaring themselves resident here, still being in denial and not doing anything about it.
They are terrified about the French tax system and being had up for non-payment of past social charges and wealth taxes and stuff. As I work here and put kids through the schools, I have always been in the system and paid these taxes, so it's kind of karmic.
The ones I have spoken to have no real understanding of the French tax system and have taken no proper advice. They could easily fess up. But they are like deer in the headlights, doing nothing while slowly realising that after Jan, they will become permanent itinerants.
