Good morning to everyone except for Cardiff Councils Planning Committee 🌞

It’s disappointing on the surface that the planning committee approved plans to begin enabling works yesterday. By approving the enabling works when the Nuffield report advises NO inpatient beds...
should be in the new centre. There will be NO research facilities either.

So the destruction of the biodiverse northern meadows and railway cutting becomes an unacceptable and avoidable disaster for the local community.
Transforming Cancer Services know the project is discredited. So they’re trying to begin construction before anyone looks more closely at them. We can act together, now, to stop this.

The committee vote was thoroughly one sided, with the chair openly restating the applicants...
case before committee went to vote. We had just 3 minutes to lay out our arguments against large planning applications, and were ignored and disregarded.
It didn’t matter either that in 2017 plans were granted for a hospital - a hospital is better than housing. Remember that line?

Now anything could be built on the site.
Because now, no one seems to be able to tell us what exactly this development is. We just know there’s going to be two bridges to a nice big piece of open land.

This beautiful space is being destroyed. For what?
We won’t stand down. Together, we can save the northern meadows.

We’ll get in touch with more info on how you can help later, but for now i hope you’ve enjoyed these pictures of the meadow and railway cutting from this morning 🌳🌾
Most of the trees in the cutting will be removed soon, destroying a wildlife corridor and popular public footpath.

Let’s stop this madness ✊🏼🌾
