Thought for the day - a lot of people talk about the experience of “hitting the wall” in a marathon. This usually happens at around the 18-20 mile mark and your body can slow to almost a complete stop. Some people experience this and some don’t. I “hit the wall” in my first...
...few marathons. The reason this happens is quite obvious - the energy stores in your body are so depleted that they physically can’t “power through”. Some people put training out there like “I’m not built for running” etc...
I’m going to say I originally thought I was one of those people. Turns out, there is no such thing as “the wall”. It doesn’t exist. I simply hadn’t prepared properly. “Winging it” can only take you so far. The two main areas where people fail are (1) not respecting the distance..
...and (2) not having a proper fueling strategy. Once you do your research, follow the advice of the experts and prepare thoroughly, it becomes far less daunting (dare I say...enjoyable) to run 26.2 miles. The key point can be transferred to pretty much everything in life...
...whether that be work or at home. Prepare thoroughly and you’re far more likely to have a successful outcome. Once you do this you’ll find you make massive strides towards achieving whatever goals you may have. 👍🏻
