THE IMPORTANCE OF FIRST PART OF DURGA SAPTASHATI.

Once the Rishi's asked Suutji as to which strotras would give them the benefit of reading the entire Veda. So he narrates a story.

There lived a Brahmin in the kingdom of Raja Vikramaditya. His wife's name was Kamini.

Once he left home to read the Durga Saptashati elsewhere. As her name mentions, she was a woman of easy moral. As soon as the husband left home, she engaged herself in immoral activities. She got herself pregnant due to her such acts. She bore a son named Vyadhrakarma.

He too grew upto a person of evil character. Looking at their untoward behavior,the Brahmin threw the mother and son out of his house. He too left for Vindhya mountains. There he spent his time reciting chandi paath and engaging himself into religious Karma's. He attained moksha.

Meanwhile, Kamini and her son went to stay with her previously aquainted Nishaad. They started amassing wealth through unfair means. One day the son entered a Devi mandir, where recitation of Durga Saptashati was going on. Just listening to the first

part of Durga Saptashati his mind underwent a dramatic change. He suddenly became religious. He became the disciple of the Brahmin who was reciting the Saptashati. As per his guru's order he started reciting the Devi paath. All his Paap karmas flew away from his body like worm's.

He continued this practice for twelve years. Now he really could be called a learned person. Later he came to Kashi. There too he went onto serve Devi Annapurna through his prayers.

He would recite this Stuti 108 times -

नित्यानंदकरी पराभयकरी सौंदर्यरत्नाकरी।
निर्धूताखिलपापपावनकरी काशीपुराधीश्वरी॥

Reciting this mantra once he went to sleep. Maa Annapurna came into dream and gave him the complete knowledge of vedas.

Later this Brahmin Vyadhrakarma became the chief Purohit in Vikramaditya's court. So the first part of this Saptashati is capable of turning your destiny and the benefit of reading Vedas.
