Riiight. Lets start the conversation.
THREAD!!!
The above chart shows a 1year period of how Botswana music was played vs foreign music.
Before we go any further lets understand the role of COSBOTS.

COSBOTS is a collecting society. Its collects royalties. It doesnt regulate airplay.
There are many things to look at.
1. It's possible that your music can play om radio and you don't get paid after a cycle. This is because your music hasn't been registered with CIPA & COSBOTS.
2. This is because a song is made by a couple of people. So if a song is not registered specifying the authors and composers split on the song, cosbots wont pay. It holds the money till due diligence is done.
Going back to the chart.
If more foreign music plays on the radio, more money goes outside the country.

Another thing to consider is the broadcasters. If they don't pay cosbots, the royalties go down. There's word that some don't pay even.
Summary.
1. Register your music
2. Airplay should increase in favour of local artists so money stays in BW
3. Broadcasters should pay cosbots royalties.
4. Artist, release lots of banging music every cycle.
The end. Le nkutwile le bothale.
