Tw: transphobia

Had to watch 'Pati, Patni aur Panga' for some personal work. Can't even begin to say how traumatising the show was. It is wrong on so many levels. According to the show, I am not a woman.
I am so done with how cis folks capitalise on our lives.

& supposedly we trans women fraudulently trick men into getting married to us. Wow. We face the most amount of violence (i have too) from transphobic men.

This show doesn't know how to deal with Disclosure. & it has ended up influencing so many people's minds with the platform they got. are there alternative good portrayals? no! So who will take responsibility for such factually incorrect, transphobic portrayals?

Someone pls tell me how in 6 months post-op someone ends up looking like the main character Shivani? constantly it is shown how having sex with us will 'confirm' it to cis het guys. Do you realise how triggering & fetishising these lines are?

The show is laced with homophobia, transphobia. We are somehow 'diseases (dengue)' & 'dirt'. The characters are never redeemed, never shown the mirror, nothing. No disclaimer even, that it can be triggering? You expect us trans persons to watch this?

So-called 'Trans-inclusive' shows should dispel misconceptions, write stories that help engage the audience in a journey where they stop shaming, but instead this show perpetrates even more!

When is film industry, folks in media gonna learn? When really? Tell me one media house (including on youtube) which hosted their debate on this?

We are never important enough to become conversations in media debates except when it's that '377' day. How many trans persons were consulted with enough decision making power in this show? How many were paid?

Lol the show even shows 377 in the background of the final episode- as if the judgment around 377 was some sort of sole emancipation. Where the hell is Nalsa then? We trans folks with our 'messy' lives don't trend like #Section377 does.
