Day 4 of my 2020 review. #YHealth4growth began over coffee with @richarddstubbs & @obrienpeter72. We knew Yorkshire’s economic & health outcomes and health R&D funding were all below average. Not a coincidence! What could we do to support local leaders and to challenge govt? (1)
YH region has range of assets, good relationships and great practice that highlight links between health & wealth. @NHSConfed @YHAHSN @YorkshireUnis wanted to bring this together across the region to drive and empower #placebasedleadership. COVID made this even more important (2)
In July we published #yhealth4growth report, outlining how to ‘level up’ the North-South economic divide, alongside the planned #NHSreset. The report wasn’t the end but the beginning of a campaign that will place health at heart of Yorkshire’s recovery https://www.yhealth4growth.info/news/new-report-on-health-as-the-new-wealth/ (3)
Earlier this month we marked a year of #yhealth4growth with an event discussing how COVID has changed the landscape and how vital our work now is. Download the write up and recording and listen to @richarddstubbs @Voa1234 @ShirleyCongdon @SCR_Mayor https://www.yhahsn.org.uk/news/yhealth-for-growth-one-year-on-the-role-of-health-in-driving-economic-renewal-and-social-inclusion/ (4)
I said this is the beginning! Been a pleasure @obrienpeter72 @richarddstubbs @Sean_Clarkson and the plans for #yhealth4growth are exciting. With CSR, devo, ICSs, levelling up and #trulycivic, 2021 promises to be busy year for the region. United leadership will be crucial! (5)
There has been interest in #yhealth4growth from outside YH too. Health inequalities matter economically and more regions are looking at what YH has done and wondering how they can bring leaders together to develop the narrative and deliver on the ground. Do get in touch! (6 END)
