Now that SF is under CA regional order, apparently visiting w another person, even outside, is again prohibited. So dating, or seeing 1 friend is banned.
These overly restrictive, constantly shifting, unrealistic rules w/o transparency can end up doing more harm than good.

Most ppl don't know about these changes, or understand them, haven't been given guidance on what they can or can't do.
People are confused about what is & isn't safe, there has been little transparency. What was safe 2 weeks ago is apparently not safe today w/o much explanation

We are in a major spike, our ICUs are strained. Everyone has to take steps to be safe. That means don't gather, stay masked and distanced, outside safer than inside. It also must mean stimulus checks, rent and small biz relief. People have to be able to survive.
And we have to give safe, healthy common sense ways for people to see each other. No parties, no gatherings, no big dinners. But telling people they can't go anywhere or see anyone, even outside, yet maintaining clear inconsistencies like open shopping malls, will backfire.
To be clear, this isn't at all about dating. It's about restricting two people--colleagues, friends, even family--from ways to see eachother safely even outdoors with masks. When rules become so disconnected, they stop making sense to people, and can even backfire.
Total isolation for people who live in alone is also unhealthy and can even be dangerous. All of this also may lead to people gathering indoors instead, which is much more dangerous.
The most important piece of this is contact tracing, testing, and giving people economic relief and safe ways to shelter in place. That's how we control this virus. A person and their best friend going on a masked walk to the park isn't the driver of spread, at all.
