The Proud Boys are confounding to many because they’re a street gang with no territory. They organize large events and travel from around the country to stage large brawls. But they have colors, an ideology, and are driven by violence (especially for prospects).

The Proud Boys have grown from a nuisance at Patriot Prayer events in Portland to a nationwide criminal enterprise that organizes scheduled street violence. They have a growing recruitment system, a significant merchandise and branding effort, & support from the mainstream right.
They’ve figured out that they can gather a nationwide attendance in individual cities on certain dates with about a month notice. They plan to do this month after month in order to give new members an opportunity to gain rank by doing assaults while building the gang brand.
So far it has fallen on local and regional leftist networks to gather community defense groups against this ultra violent gang. While the Proud Boys may be skirting federal law there is no sign yet that the feds plan to break up their enterprise.
Mass community defense against this gang will require various regional networks to become more nimble and more able to bring in large cross ideological coalitions to defeat them. The only thing they understand is being massively outnumbered.
Take the time to make liberals aware of this gang and the danger they present. Build your AG’s to do the militant community defense, but it’s imperative that we bring in more people to be able to manage these planned violent events on short notice.

Know that this doesn’t come easy to me. I don’t like to admit that @PopMobPDX bringing in people in unicorn outfits is necessary. But this has grown beyond small street fights. Mass community defense is the only solution.
The strategy they use means that experienced fighters travel from around the country monthly to a single location to get their assaults in. We need to learn from each other and be prepared in every city they pick. It is currently DC, but it will be another city next.
They can’t do a single city for too long because eventually the community defense becomes too strong. We saw this on 8/22 in Portland when they came across a hardened group of antifascists who had been brutalized for years.
Become prepared and brutalized by learning from us and others. We can beat these fascists.
