Also, here’s a thread on some of the common arguments against making the “negro leagues” officially major leagues, and why they are all very stupid arguments.

I do hope Aubrey Huff sees this and throws a fit.
1) “They never played against the NL or AL”

NL or AL didn’t play eachother at all either, except in the World Series or in the all star game, which wasn’t even created until 1933. They also didn’t play eachother cuz.. erm... racism.
2) “it’s ruining the legacy of Jackie Robinson”

Not at all. If anything, it is honoring his legacy and doing right by baseball history the best we can. There’s only so little of the many historical wrongs we can fix, but this is one way we can.
“It will mess with the history of the game”

Welp, history of the game includes the negro leagues, does it not? The history of the game argument has always been an excuse to justify the rampant and repulsive racism that overshadowed the sport for more then a century.
“Ok, well if the Negro leagues are now Major league, shouldn’t the KBO and NPB be major leagues”

Doesn’t work like that. The Major league is an umbrella for North American baseball. Any American League, no matter the size, interact with eachother far more then foreign leagues.
“The stats will be wrong”

No, the stats will just include more fantastic players. Once again, another excuse to run away from the racist and ignorant history of baseball.

Josh Gibson, greatest home run hitter of all time, always has been and always will be. Get used to it.
Baseball is my life, and whatever I do as a living I want it to be with the game of baseball. The history of baseball and the stats that go into it are also incredible and so unique. I can’t say all of this though without acknowledging the catastrophically ignorant lore behind it
I am really curious to see how these statistics get divulged and how the books will look at this. Just like the 2020 Covid-19 season.

This might just be the only great thing rob manfred has done for the game though.
Anyways to the 2 people who read this, thanks for reading.
