Politics are the maneuvering of power and systems of power. No political system in the history has given its population any amount of luxury which was not beneficial to the state's functioning.

America doesn't have healthcare because it would then in turn become financially beneficial to house the homeless, and if we house the homeless who would waste their life working at Walmart, and subsequently risk jail/slavery to escape poverty?
The Nordic states aren't socialist Utopias. They're designed as petite bourgeois retirement nations so white progressives can maintain their wealth and LARP socialism, while being funded by the larger engine of imperialism and capitalism.
When you speak of politics: You speak of Power.
The average citizen has very little power, and the systems of modern democracy are designed to dilute power between citizens, and allow an outlet for the desire to change the current state of power without risking real change.
