Grace Lavery just had a piece published in Foreign Policy about how the recent High Court judgment in the UK is “transphobic” for ruling that children can’t give informed consent to puberty blockers—drugs which are thought to suppress normal development of bone density.
The piece in @ForeignPolicy contains major errors https://twitter.com/jessesingal/status/1339282593901142025
Yet despite the errors, despite the cavalier attitude towards children’s physical health, despite the bullying and suppression of debate, these are the people we are letting control the conversation.
If it were any other issue—say ADHD or autism—and kids were being prescribed drugs off label which then caused a lack of bone density—you could be sure that journalists would be raising hell.
Yet because activists have effectively cowed us all into submission, & because we are all so terrified of being called a “bigot” we’re happy to relinquish our duty of care to the young.
