Reality check on cons: Jared, Jensen & Misha are all male & approaching middle age. Jared is 38, Jensen 42 and Misha 46. Many men in their age group get bad cases if get covid. All the vaccines so far are between 60-95% effective - rough estimates from early data/small n’s
Even if J2M get vax’d right away they will not know if they’re in the 5% where it doesn’t “take”. All the antibody tests rn are not very accurate. Same is true for fans. + risk we all spread it to each other. So - cons won’t be safe till herd immunity (>70% vax’d)
or limit cons to those w proof of vax.

US negotiating today w Pfizer for 500 million more doses but would prob not be available till summer 2021. My governor (only US governor who is a physician) announced today the general public here (VA) should not expect to be vax’d until “early summer”
Also it’s ~2 mo from your 1st shot until it “takes” (1st shot, wait a month, 2nd shot, wait a month)

Fauci said today that we should expect to be masked & social distancing until into fall 2021. My university is planning for summer 2021 to be online - they lose millions with online teaching so would not be planning that if they could avoid it.
All I’m saying is: I’m not buying plane tickets yet for any 2021 cons. I’m hopeful about summer cons, esp late summer, but think spring cons are unlikely unless they limit to vax’d fans only, which would probably mean, just those fans who happen to be health care workers.
Use your own judgment. Many airlines & hotels have waived all change fees a year out so you might be able to get a good deal now, then rebook hotel/plane if you have to. But plan for possible postponements. & do NOT pressure J2M, or con organizers, to do unsafe cons.
Until then - if you are fortunate to still have a job, please consider supporting the cast in other ways - esp “lesser” cast that prob relied on cons to help put food on the table. Things like Bri & Kim’s pj party, Rich & Rob’s podcast patreon, stageits, virtual cons etc
& support other fans if you can, & of course your own community. Consider putting con travel money toward local food banks. There is a nasty winter ahead. Let’s do what we can to help each other out, please be patient w the vax rollout, & stay safe!
