Most criticism of toxic masculinity that I see is just people making fun of men for being sad and insecure (admittedly, expressed in dumb ways) rather than stoicly happy, like a real man would be
pls don't harass the person who posted this, but it's such a great example of my point.
How dare men be adopting unhealthy diets in order to perform their gender to gain acceptance. Everyone knows a REAL MAN would never feel insecure about his gender! https://twitter.com/exaltiora/status/1330184736376041473?s=19

I think that healthy/toxic are awful ways to look at masculinity *internally* -- while being great for doing *external* threat analysis
There's masculinity that is high-status and unchallenged (healthy) and masculinity that is scared and acting tough to avoid harm (toxic)

But instead, these different manifestations of the same thing get essentialized into being two things.
It's crazy to me that Woke analysis will ignore that the more marginalized a man is, the more likely he is to act "toxic". There's cause and effect here! Be intersectional.

Anyone who says something like this is socially isolated and is trying to spin that into a positive thing. Like, that's it -- this is just making fun of a deeply unhappy person who has gone mildly insane in coming up with a positive spin on their life https://twitter.com/zuza_real/status/1338855778166263810
Yeah, see, this shit is exactly what I am talking about:
(send me more of this sort of thing, I will add it to the thread)
The (in this case, intensely) marginalized use "toxic" masculinity as a coping mechanism https://twitter.com/OfScarberians/status/1339401629393666054
