I’m feeling really cross this evening. We wouldn’t need to be mucking about with thresholds & AI systems & getting into unseemly squabbles about the reliability of PCR mass testing if we didn’t do it at all.

We already HAD very good syndromic detection systems which work better than any mass testing system. https://twitter.com/realjoelsmalley/status/1339256792396800006
We also knew very early that the rubbish about “asymptomatic transmission” was inherently wrong, as I’ve patiently explained numerous times. I hope in coming days you’ll see an article from Drs Clare Craig & Jonathan Engler who have reviewed the “evidence” for the phenomenon.
It’s woeful. Now, without having to trouble ourselves with this ridiculous notion, which runs counter to all prior experience with respiratory viruses, as well as the finely honed sensing by humans of illness & threat in others, which isn’t there by luck but because it’s useful..
...there would be NO JUSTIFICATION WHATSOEVER for mass testing of the population. It has been this recklessly ill-informed decision, coupled with using a car crash of an unsuitable PCR mass testing system, that has thrown this country (& others) into a deep crevasse of our own...
...making. Now, we can begin to climb out tomorrow. If someone has symptoms, invite them to act considerately. Self isolation sounds not unreasonable if you must. Test them if they’re ill & only then if differential diagnosis or need to manage them safely dictates. Otherwise...
STOP TESTING PEOPLE! It adds precisely nothing to the sum total of getting us anywhere. It exposes us all to the unquantified risk of false positives. I know I sound like a stuck record but for pities sake, Westminster: the system we’re all paying for still lacks the testing...
...equivalent of an MOT. Not knowing the operational false positive rate means we cannot interpret a positive result. Check that assertion out. If I’m correct - and I am - anyone getting a test & especially anyone running these systems for money - SHAME ON YOU.
Consider this:
Consider this:
..if someone really is dying & dies of symptoms in accord with SARS-COV-2 infection AND has a clinical picture making sense due this lethal diagnosis, of course, consider placing covid19 on the death certificate. But don’t lean on a test result that I, and much cleverer people...
...than me have told you for months isn’t sufficiently reliable for the job asked if it. PCR is a wonderful research tool, per testimony from its Nobel prize winning inventor. But as he said it’s wholly unsuited to the job of mass diagnosis. Recognise the truth if this before...
.. this has to be forced upon you by force of law. There are numerous legal cases moving forward all saying essentially the same thing.
The best decision the Prime Minister can make is to order immediate cessation of all mass testing programs for this virus. If I get told he...

...cannot do that, constitutionally, I recommend he fires SAGE, which he surely can do, and appoint anyone as interim role holder. Anyone will do, provided they’ll give that order. Turn off the lighthouse labs. If you’re worried about the marine navigation implications, be...
...aware we’re far from sure they’re in the right place to stop us going aground anyway.
