Recommendations from the Ombudsman's inquiry into the public housing lockdowns uncover serious breaches to the human rights of residents and ask for:
#1 Govt to publicly apologise to public housing residents in North Melb and Flemington
#2 Amending the Public Health and Well-being Act to allow people held under detention to appeal to the CHO or VCAT, to be promptly provided info in a way they understand & require access to fresh air and exercise
#3 That DHHS identified all sensitive and high risk accom managed by the Govt & to invest in them so that COVID-19 outbreak prevention, prep and response measures are in place
#4 The Govt establishes processes to regularly evaluate implementation & impact of these measure during the COVID-19 pandemic
