One of my #CURE Ichthyology student groups identified ALL THE SPECIES in #FindingNemo for their digital taxonomy project!!! 😍👏💯
Here are 68 spp. with permission!
Note: multiple possible IDs given for generic fishes.
Note: Sergeant Majors are black/yellow. They are correct that groupers are not mouthbrooders, but broadcast spawners!
How could you resist identifying this adorable cephalopod? 🥰
I think this is probably a surgeonfish, not a triggerfish, but still a fair guess!
My students all know very well by now that we are fishes, like all tetrapods 🥰💯👏 #TeamFish
Love these guys!
yes, dolphins are also fishes, but not lobsters 🥰😋
Birds are also a very low diversity, morphologically and genomically homogeneous clade of fishes with virtually zero craniofacial motility 😎🤣 #TeamFish >>> #TeamBirb
A blue whale is the largest fish, of course (this was one of my questions on our fish-of-the-day trivia game. I'm lucky class was virtual! 🤣)
Probably not a tuna? In any case, that's all or nearly all the species in #FindingNemo!
