A fifth of the world's cotton comes from China's Far West. Muslim Uighur people there are being enslaved, forced to pick cotton, their culture eradicated.

Some have asked how it could have been that ordinary people in Georgian England cheerfully consumed the cheap sugar, rum, cotton, made by slaves, with very few pangs of conscience.
The past is a different country, but the plight of the Uighurs today casts light on the answer. 2/6
Those guilty of the exploitation were good at spreading misleading propaganda. They described the enslaved as subhuman, trouble makers, brute beasts. They minimised abuses, amplifying the supposed benefits of 'civilising' and converting these pagan people of a different race. 3/6

The Chinese Communist Party describes these labour camps as, “vocational training schools” specialising in “thought education work” and as “schools for de-radicalisation”, set on liberation from “outdated ideas”, i.e. religion. 4/6
Muslim Uighur culture is described as being characterised by “deep-rooted, lazy thinking”. Officials charged with group transports of the Uighurs to the cotton fields, are to, “eat, live, study and work with them, actively implementing thought education during cotton picking” 5/6
The HQ of the International Cotton Association @ICALtd, is in Liverpool, a trusted body setting standards & settling disputes for global cotton traders since the nineteenth century. Pray for its members, as with global consumers and governments they seek to right this wrong.
