What is going wrong at Manchester City?
[ A thread ]
1. We don't have the right mentality. Look at Liverpool. Why do you think they get last minute winners every game? They have the grit, determination and motivation to win. We need that in the squad. Ruben Dias needs to get the armband from Ferna next season.
2. Limitation of creativity.
Yes, Gundo and Rodri isnt that bad, but Gundo sits deeper than David (when he was here). This isolated De Bruyne so there's a lower amount of creativity, which solely relies on taking our other chances, which may not be clear cut.
3. Left back. Mendy is simply not good enough. He doesn't offer any attacking threat and often gets caught out on the counter attack. He also keeps attempting the cross but there is no one to cross it to, hence the next tweet.
4. A striker. We need a striker. Haaland will be perfect. He would offer aerial threat, which is another way to create if we are limited normally. Jesus has no positioning. There have been so many times where De Bruyne has looked for the cross and there is no one.
5. Taking our chances. Even if creativity is quite limited with the double pivot, we need to be taking our chances. How many times have Mahrez and Sterling cost us points by missing clear cut chances? Torres has been so so clinical for us yet he doesnt start.
6. We have become too predictable. We need new ideas to attack. Teams can come to the etihad, play 11 men behind the ball and earn a draw. I'm not saying Pep out, but if he can't figure another way of breaking defences, then we need a completely new style of play.
Adding to the predictability part, we can break through defences without the double pivot. If gundo sits too deep, why not bench him and play KDB and Foden alongside each other? It would definitely help Kevin and also boost creativity.
