Valhalla's biggest problem, imo anyway, even without the existence of these boosts, is that there's this pervasive feeling that you need to grind. You need to get more XP. You want to do the raids, you want to fight that boss, but you're way below the recommended power level
This is a BIG issue that contributes to the exhaustion that I feel playing this game because I feel like I gotta do those world events, I gotta grind these resources, etc. And so even if these boosts don't exist at the start of the game's life cycle, and even if they're optional,
Ubisoft is drilling the holes from the start so that when the time comes, they can slot them right in. Level gating is an issue that will never go away if Ubisoft continues to develop games with these microtransactions in mind.
One of the reasons I love Ghost of Tsushima so much is because it doesn't fucking do this.
