artistic + outreach policy is undermined by use of space in so many theatres. we want to welcome the community, but the food and drink is unaffordable even to ppl working there. in order to be a theatre, we are prioritising being a conferencing venue, a courtroom or a fancy bar.

for each new revenue stream to support the art, a new dept of staff is needed, resources are diverted, the revenue streams start eclipsing everything else. austerity is to blame, but at a certain point the trade-off isn't worth it. the building loses purpose + identity
