I’d like to chat:
My military service: I get profoundly uncomfortable and appreciative when folks thank me for my service. I understand the place that it comes from. But as I often say: My service would be irrelevant, without patriotic and good Canadians standing with me.

I don’t bring up my military service to get thanks, demand admiration, or attempt to silence others. I bring it up to emphasize that I have a lifetime of expertise in small arms, tactical medicine, and actual ground combat in Afghanistan. This gives me a unique perspective.

I was tired of hearing and reading inflammatory rhetoric like “military style” - or that “only the military should have firearms.”
I was tired of seeing the anti gun groups intentionally confusing the public by calling 5 round semi-automatic rifles “machine guns.”

I am tired of the appeals to emotion, and the empty rhetoric which does precisely zero to save lives.
I am disgusted by groups like @DanforthFSC who call my family, friends, and I “bad people” for legally owning handguns.
I’m no longer surprised by the sexual insults.

I was finished with humouring professional victims some time ago. A survivor of childhood trauma and combat trauma, myself, I cannot stand when people use their own trauma - to justify malicious actions towards others.
Experiencing trauma is serious. It isn’t a free pass.
