James is right.

Stories really matter.

It's just the start of my story.

The story of how writing brought me back to life.

How?

My job is... Dull. And stressful.

It pays the bills. More, it pays well. But I die slowly inside every day.

It's joy sucking misery.

I loved writing, but I wasn't doing it consistently.

I wrote a couple of hymns, short pieces that I'd actually manage to finish.
Two years ago, my daughter was late being born and I had a week off.

I wrote another hymn.

This one was picked up at church, and seeing people love something I'd poured my heart into flipped a switch.

I wrote more.

Feedback was good.
One day, I wrote a line that didn't fit.

It was too light, too whimsical.

Almost like a line from a children's book.

So I made it into one.

I sold it to the top publisher in my niche and they'll publish it in a year or two, once the art is finished.
Hymnwriting isn't lucrative ($1.98 so far, and I don't get that until I earn the minimum payout of $10).

Neither (I suspect) are children's books.

But it's a start.

And I'm happy when I write.

When words from my soul reach someone else's.
I came to Twitter to promote my book and I found this learning community.

Learned novel-writing from @TheBrometheus.

Learned persuasion from @JoshuaLisec.

Learned creation and audience building from @LifeMathMoney, @creation247 and @OneJKMolina.

I'm still learning daily.
It's just the start of my journey.

Eventually, I'll build enough writing assets that I can retire my wife without sacrificing our giving.

Then enough that I can take a lower paying job with more time to write.

Then enough to do this full time.

I'm just getting started.
