2020 was the year of me graduating from my amazing degree - BA Broadcast Journalism at @TrentUni. (I miss that department SO much.)

Despite Covid messing with my graduation plans and hopes of getting paid work in the industry I love, I have achieved a lot...

*a thread*
January got the year off to a fab start.

Whilst doing voluntary shifts at @PlayGemRadio, I got a trial shift on one of my FAVOURITE radio shows - @sarajcox on @BBCRadio2.

What an honour it was to work in Wogan House answering the phones.

THANK YOU @Louise_molony @MattTasker7!
February was my birthday month and I had 2 consecutive Newsweeks at @CBJNews.

I LOVED IT.

I interviewed a basketball player, reported on a UCU Strike and did my first live TV report from the QMC Hospital in Notts about Covid.

March!! **that month!!**

My time in the CBJ Newsroom was cut short and I faced the prospect of finishing my radio documentary dissertation (and degree) in my uni flat.

But it wasn't all bad, because I interviewed the awesome @ccarpentermusic for the doc. She's so cool.
April!! Oh heck!!

I started therapy (over the phone) for my anxiety and trauma ridden brain and was finally on the road to recovery.🎉

I was busy writing essays and writing my online feature for my dissertation. I'm so proud of it, read it here ⬇️ https://ntu.shorthandstories.com/meet-the-women-fighting-sexism-in-music---/
In May, I FINISHED MY DEGREE ❤️❤️

I finished editing my dissertation music documentary from home!

It tells the stories of 5 amazing women in the music industry and I'm SO proud of it!

In June, not a lot happened.

I spent the month with @MeyganODwyer in our flat reflecting on finishing our degrees in a global pandemic. The job search officially began.

I got an interview for a local BBC TV station, but didn't get the job. But it was a fab experience!
In July I got confirmation that I got a first in my radio documentary dissertation and overall Broadcast Journalism degree!!

I was so so happy. All that hard work over 3 years had paid off.

I also made a showreel of all my TV work at uni ⬇️
August was a tough month mentally.

But I spoke to @MarkLeeElliott on @BBCShropshire about my radio doc which was super exciting!

Then I found out about a new radio station in Wolverhampton called @wearegorgeousfm and I decided to sign up 🙋
In September, good news was coming!!

@youthmusic gave me my first bit of paid broadcast journalism work!! I was taken on as a Freelance Music Journalist on a new podcast called 'The Higher Frequency'. So happy.

(my episode is out on Friday 18th Dec)!! https://open.spotify.com/show/5rbzQuhwmP7uCG8lp3DzQS?si=BL_Ve6sVTZuh9dFo6foIzA
In October, the Women in Music Show on @wearegorgeousfm was born.

I was back in a radio studio for the first time in 7 months and the excitement was REAL.

I interviewed @emmadunlopmusic, @sophieloulife and @IAmOhKay for Woman of the Week.

I LOVE WOMEN IN MUSIC SO MUCH x
In November, the Women in Music Show continued to thrive and I absolutely LOVED chatting about women in music news each week.

I interviewed @emilyjupitus and @marishawallace for the show too.

I had a job interview with ITV but didn't get the job - the job search continues😎
It's December!

I'm loving producing and presenting the Women in Music Show.😍

The Woman of the Week this week is @emmablackery and I've got many ambitions for 2021.
