HUGE: Today @NYCSpeakerCoJo & others put forward a comprehensive planning framework for NYC & legislation to make it happen.

For over 100 years, NYC has taken a piecemeal approach to development & capital spending & it's cost us dearly. That's about to change.
The lack of a comprehensive planning framework is one key reason why NYC "can't have nice things."

Our process for planning & development can be very inefficient, so the outcomes can only be so good.

This graphic from @NYCSpeakerCoJo illustrates the problem & solution.
“Comprehensive planning – done by many big cities across the country – would be a proactive way to develop our City...It could create an equitable framework – one that aligns citywide & community values" said RPA Pres @tkwrpa.

Excited to support this new NYC Council legislation.
Our most sincere thanks to @NYCSpeakerCoJo for prioritizing comprehensive planning & @Vanessalgibson @CMCarlinaRivera @CMReynoso34 & @bradlander for supporting this plan & legislation. Plus @thrivingccnyc & advocacy orgs who have pushed for this - thank you. Let's make it happen!
